Seoul's Namsan Night Trail Lights the Mountain With 700 LED Walkers on November 21
Seoul's free Namsan Night Trail returns November 21, 7-9 PM, with 700 LED-lit walkers tracing a 3-km route from Namsangol Hanok Village to Namsan Octagonal Pavilion. On-site registration opens at 6 PM; no advance booking needed.
Seoul's Jung-gu district turns into a river of light on November 21, when 700 hikers strap on LED wrist bands for the second and final session of the Namsan Night Trail. The Seoul Metropolitan Government runs the free, noncompetitive walk from 7 PM to 9 PM, starting at Cheonugak Pavilion inside Namsangol Hanok Village, 28 Toegye-ro 34-gil, Jung-gu.
The first session already took place on Wednesday, October 21, with a full field of 700 walkers. SMG designed both dates to draw a combined 1,400 participants over the course of autumn.
The route covers about 3 kilometers and takes roughly 90 minutes at a relaxed pace. Walkers follow Namsangongwon-gil out of the hanok village, pass Jamdubong Photo Island partway up the slope, and finish at Namsan Octagonal Pavilion, where the city's skyline spreads out below the ridge.
SMG calls the lit-up procession the 'Light Walk.' Each participant wears an LED wrist light, and together the group forms a glowing line strung along Namsan's forest paths after dark, visible from several points on the mountain.
There's no advance booking. Registration opens on-site at Namsangol Hanok Village at 6 PM on the day of the walk, and spots go to the first 700 people in line. Admission is free, and organizers close registration once the 700-person cap is reached for the session.
Jung-gu's commercial district factors into the plan as well. SMG coordinated with the Jung-gu Office to route foot traffic from the mountain toward nearby nighttime businesses, including the Seoul Central Market, so walkers can extend the evening with a stop for food or shopping after they come down from the pavilion.
Details above reflect SMG's official release and were checked on November 1, 2026. Anyone planning to join the November 21 session should arrive at Namsangol Hanok Village before 6 PM, since the walk fills on a first-come basis and SMG has not announced further dates beyond the two autumn sessions.
