Small Luxury Hotels of the World and the Michelin Guide reward different things: SLH certifies independent, small-format luxury hotels through its own membership directory, while the Michelin Guide's Key and Star marks sit on the building and on its restaurant separately. Which property to book turns on which credential matters more and on what size of room a group needs, from a single Michelin-starred suite to a multi-bedroom apartment for four to eight guests. Aman Seoul, announced 2026-09-02 for Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, is not yet an operating hotel, so it holds no SLH or Michelin listing to weigh against the other five.

The Michelin Guide lists Josun Palace among Korea's first Michelin Key hotels, describing it as a One-Key stay for Art Deco glamour, with design by the Monaco-based architects Humbert and Poyet. The hotel's 36th-floor restaurant, Eatanic Garden, held One MICHELIN Star from 2023 through 2025 and received a Michelin Service Award in 2024.

The 702 Penthouse sleeps up to eight across three bedrooms and two bathrooms at 69 square meters, so two families or an extended group who need to stay together without splitting across separate hotel rooms fit this single unit. The Maru Suite, at 44 square meters with two bedrooms, sleeps up to six and suits two couples who want their own bedrooms inside one suite.

L'Escape Hotel Seoul

L'Escape Hotel Seoul, operating as L'Escape, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Seoul Myeongdong, sits 200 meters from Hoehyeon Station with 204 rooms, including mini-kitchen suites in its top three categories, and Kayak listed rates from $151 a night (checked 2026-09-21).

Dining includes L'Amant Secret, a Michelin-starred French restaurant, and Palais de Chine, a Chinese restaurant, plus a top-floor cocktail bar. Rooms carry 24-hour room service, laptop-friendly workspaces and stocked minibars, and bathrooms include a bidet, a separate toilet, hairdryers and bathrobes.

Check-in on the official Marriott page runs from 15:00 to 23:59 and check-out from 11:00 to 11:00, with no extra beds or cots offered in any room.

Grand Hyatt Seoul

Grand Hyatt Seoul stands at 322 Sowol-ro in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, near Itaewon and Myeongdong, with 615 guest rooms including 53 suites finished in Korean cultural design cues.

The Michelin Guide includes Grand Hyatt Seoul in its Seoul hotel selection, describing the property in its own copy as one where a guest has not known luxury hotel service until seeing the Far East version, and comparing it to the Park Hyatt Tokyo. The listing sits in Michelin's general selection tier, separate from the Michelin Key winners announced for Korea, a roster that named Josun Palace among others.

At more than six hundred rooms, Grand Hyatt Seoul reads as a large international luxury hotel, a different scale from the small, independent format that Small Luxury Hotels of the World certifies.

Fraser Suites Insadong Seoul

Fraser Suites Insadong Seoul, listed at 18 Insadong 4-gil, Nakwon-dong, Jongno-gu, sits about 500 meters from Anguk Station and comprises 213 apartment-style units spanning one- to four-bedroom layouts plus penthouses, each fitted with a kitchen and a DVD player.

The same address now operates under the name Orakai Insadong Suites, with check-in from 16:00 and check-out by 11:00, and its bathrooms include a toilet plus a bath or shower. It can still be booked through a third-party listing at reservations.com.

Frasers Hospitality's current Seoul portfolio lists Fraser Place Central Seoul and Fraser Place Namdaemun Seoul as its active properties in the city, a smaller lineup than the Insadong address once held.
